Bringing it all together... the last piece of the jigsaw
Economic conditions during 2009 -10 certainly took their toll on the global electronics manufacturing services (EMS) Industry, but with 2011 underway the global market for EMS is predicted to return to double-digit growth. The EMS sector was the last in the electronics supply chain to feel the impact of the global recession and the last to rebound in 2010. But it has indeed rebounded and JJS Electronics Ltd are seeing a huge increase in enquiries for their unique mix of electronics, electrical, mechatronics and top-end configure-to-order assembly/integration services from OEM’s desiring to build their products in either or both the UK and Central/Eastern Europe (CEE).JJS has a broad manufacturing offering rarely seen at many other EMS companies, including the Tier 1’s. The JJS model for pcb assembly, large-scale integration, complete custom system integration, configure-to -order manufacturing and spares/repairs is very much in demand. The ability to offer a complete suite of DFM/DFT engineering services, prototyping and direct order fulfillment from its own facility in The Czech republic adds to the attraction of the company and services.
JJS Electronics’ Commercial Director, Stephen Greaves, says ‘We have dialogues underway with companies in a variety of business sectors including Transportation, Telecoms, Infrastructure, CleanTech, Medical and Industrial, who themselves are seeing growth following the downturn, and are looking to reduce their COGS and time to market by partnering with broad-capability EMS companies like JJS’ .
‘We are finding that our low-medium volume/ high complexity niche is particularly buoyant and, as a Ł30m group, our size is attracting larger OEM customers who’s products do not ideally fit the business models of the Tier 1 EMS providers. We have a track record of providing a fully procured, end-to-end service, whereby we produce pcb assemblies and integrate these into complex electro-mechanical products, including some that may be seen as ‘machines’ rather than ‘products.’ But it doesn’t stop there, we already provide customers with a complete configure-to-order and direct ship fulfillment service from our facilities in the UK and The Czech Republic. When a CEE presence is desired combined with a full electronics, electrical, mechanical assembly and distribution service, we feel we have a uniquely powerful offering and it clearly hasn’t gone unnoticed’
These are core capabilities for JJS Electronics and they allow customers in both Europe and North America to partner with JJS and enjoy the benefits of leveraging a vertically integrated model to improve time to market, enhance manufacturing flexibility, reduce inventory liability and remove redundant and non-value add processes as well as simplifying their supply chain. Greaves summarised ‘We believe the key is bringing it all together within one supplier. The complexity of the products we build, surprises most visitors to our facilities and as one commented recently ‘with support for the entire product life cycle together with a proven track record producing complex electro-mechanical products, JJS really is geared up to provide the last piece of the jigsaw.’
